Growing up in Granville, Ohio, Jordan was always drawn to emotional stories hidden in science-fiction and horror films. At Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television, he was an intern under Wes Craven and Marianne Maddalena and his student film Craw Lake starring a young Bella Thorne premiered at the Los Angeles Screamfest. At age 20 he and collaborator Kevin Stewart created their love letter to cult cinema, ThanksKilling. The success of that film led to the sequel being the highest funded horror film on Kickstarter at the time and a live musical spinoff that's sold out venues across the country. Shorts Critters: Bounty Hunter, an internet favorite fan film, and Techno Western, a dark crime drama, were an important departure from the director’s earlier work before venturing into medieval times for his 2019 fantasy/ horror hit, The Head Hunter. Made for a meager budget, the film premiered at the Sitges Film Festival and won multiple awards on the festival circuit before opening to stellar reviews and receiving a worldwide release from Vertical Entertainment. "I can only imagine the staggering vision Jordan Downey and his team will concoct next” says Rue Morgue Magazine.
